Security Update 8 September 2006 UK Threat – DCA Malaysia Security Directive The Director General of Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia has issued a directive vide a letter reference (70)DCA/KES/2/08 Vol. 1 dated 7 September 2006 repealing the earlier directive issued on 11 August 2006 in respect of prohibition of liquid, gel based items or aerosols on board UK bound flights. With immediate effect, UK bound passengers are allowed to carry liquid or gel based items on board aircraft. Passengers are advised to check-in early. However, strict search of passengers and items carried will still be carried out at departure gates for LHR flights. MH passengers connecting to another flight or departing out of UK airports must be advised that they are subjected to British Airport Authority (BAA) security measures. The general guidelines are : Passengers are permitted to carry only ONE carry-on baggage no larger than 45 cm (17.7 in) x 35 cm (13.7 in) x 16 cm (6.2 in). All liquid or gel based items are strictly prohibited, EXCEPT baby formula/milk or baby food (subjected to tasting), or essential medicines up to 50 ml. Laptops and electrical items are required to be removed from carry-on bag for screening. For further details please advise passengers to surf British Airport Authority (BAA) website www.baa.com.
