MEMORANDUM Ref : SM948 1.2 / RMM(E)/9-047 Date : 11 August 2006 Dear Valued Customer, MALAYSIA AIRLINES FLIGHT OPERATIONS TO/FROM LONDON Please be informed that Malaysia Airlines’ flights to and from London are operating on schedule. Flight MH002 bound for London departed on schedule last night(10 August 2006). However, security screening has been stepped up for all Malaysia Airlines flights departing KLIA for London, Heathrow. Passengers with onward connections will also be subject to similar security screening at London, Heathrow. As a result of this stringent security screening, customers are requested to report early for check-in at the airport to minimize flight delays. “In addition, with immediate effect, for flights out of London, Heathrow, Malaysia Airlines is implementing the new cabin baggage security measure introduced by the Department of Transport, United Kingdom which allows one plastic transparent carrier bag per passenger. All other cabin baggage will be processed as check-in baggage and uplifted accordingly,” she said. Malaysia Airlines is co-operating with the relevant authorities for the smooth implementation of this added security measure. Customers are also encouraged to contact Malaysia Airlines 24-hour Call Centre at toll-free number 1 300 88 3000 for further updates. Items allowed to be brought on board in the transparent plastic carrier bag for travel from London Heathrow : Pocket-size wallets and pocket-size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags) Travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets) Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg, diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic. Spectacles and sunglasses, without cases Contact lens holders, without bottles of solution For those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags) Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed Tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs Keys (but no electrical key fobs). All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be X-ray screened.
Pushchairs and walking aids must be X-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point. Thank you for your continued support and kind understanding.
